At the forefront of sustainability and derived from natural sources EKO-Flex pigments are designed for producing natural looking fleck effects.

PRODUCT SERIES DESCRIPTION:

• Designed for a novel speckle effect in light coloured polymers.

• Based on a natural by-product from farms, made from grain husk with a natural colour. The husks are ground and controlled for particle size, particle size distribution and colour shade, no additional colouration is added/required.

• Supplied in the form of a convenient, easy to handle PE concentrate with 70% pigment content.

• As a natural material, the husk based series may be less resistant to weathering in some formulations: e.g some slight fading/change to the particle colour shade was noticed after 16 months outdoor exposure in Anstruther, Scotland.

• Our recommendation: use for interior applications; any exterior use of EKO-Flex BL&GD types should be assessed by the customer and results will be dependent on the total formulation or additive package used.

• Products have very good regulatory compliance.

PROCESSING TEMPERTURES & CONDITIONS:

• GD375-30LW: generally stable up to 260°C (500°F), higher temperatures may cause colour change golden brown to dark brown/black.

• BL280/BL500-30LW: stable up to 280°C (536°F), at higher temperature the pigment particles can start to degrade if the residence time is longer in normal polymer processing.

• The length of time held at those high temperatures is also important and it is assumed that the time would normally be short based on normal processing conditions (e.g. extrusion or injection moulding).

• Like most effect pigments, avoiding high shear is recommended to avoid damage to particle size and shape.

DOSAGE:

• Suggested dosage in the final application: 0.5-2%.

Available in black, white, dark brown and golden shades, they are highly concentrated at 70% effect pigment. Stone, sand, marble and other imitation effects can be achieved when used in combination with other pigments.
