Metaflake Mineral Oil Free Products for Printing Inks

Metaflake with its unique water milling process can certify that its products are compliant and 100% free of mineral oils.

On 1st January 2025, there will be a new Regulation applied initially in France (expected to extend to other countries) which will effectively ban the use of mineral oils in printing inks used for any food contact applications.

A recently published article confirmed that a source of mineral oil in metallic ink formulations includes Aluminium paste where mineral spirits is used as the processing solvent. This effectively means that any solvent (mineral spirits) milled aluminium pigment may no longer be compliant for this application.
